Part of the route runs through an old railway cutting between Wakefield Road and Lee Lane. This section of the proposals is to upgrade an existing Public Right of Way by resurfacing and reprofiling to make it more attractive for users. As you are aware this section of Public Right of Way has suffered with major flooding issues for a number of years associated with previous adjacent industrial buildings discharging surface water into the cutting, although the building is now demolished the flows continue to discharge into the cutting from the remaining hard standing and adjacent grassland. As part of the scheme it is our intention to install a Swale / detention ditch along the side of the route to store the flows from the site and discharge at a suitable rate to an adjacent watercourse. An outline sketch of the proposals is shown on the attached drawings. We propose to install a flow control structure on the ditch to limit the discharge into the receiving watercourse to 5l/s. Please can you let me know by return of email if these outline proposals are acceptable to BMBC as LLFA and if there are any issues with the receiving watercourse we need to be aware of.
